Mercedes-Benz Cars has always focused on constant improvements and sometimes, these new enhancements are too exciting to be kept back for a facelift or new model. So every year there is a production break, which allows car makers to implement a few changes. These are commonly referred to as model year changes. At this production break point the manufacturer has a clear opportunity to change, remove or enhance certain specifications – optional or standard – on a vehicle.
“Model year changes occur on an annual basis throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle. These are subtle changes and sometimes a mere production processing code change,” says Reandren Thulkanam, Product Manager, Mercedes-Benz Cars.
“A model year change is not always a facelift. Facelifts occur once or twice in a vehicle’s lifecycle and involve more extensive enrichments,” adds Thulkanam.
